    <dcterms:abstract><![CDATA[La craniectomía descompresiva (CD) es un procedimiento ampliamente utilizado en el tratamiento de la hipertensión endocraneana (HEC) refractaria al tratamiento médico. En el infarto cerebral de evolución maligna de la arteria cerebral media (IMACM) ha logrado disminuir la mortalidad y mejorar el resultado funcional, cuando es realizada en las primeras 48 horas de evolución. Las complicaciones derivadas de la misma pueden impactar negativamente en el pronóstico y se vinculan directamente a los cambios fisiopatológicos en la presión intracraneana (PIC) que acompañan la remoción del hueso, e indirectamente a las producidas por la craneoplastia (CP). Los autores reportan el caso de un paciente con un IMACM que fue sometido a una hemicraniectomía descompresiva (HD) y realizan una exhaustiva búsqueda bibliográfica no sistemática concerniente a las complicaciones de la descompresiva en diferentes escenarios clínicos.]]></dcterms:abstract>
